Last week we completed Tuckpointing the front of this small but charming 1920’s cottage in Denison St Hamilton.
A long-term leaking awning from above, combined with rising damp on both verandah outer walls, created what was possibly the worst brick mould and decay we’d ever encountered. To say restoring the brickwork to its former glory was challenging - is an understatement! We even managed to freshen-up the verandah tessellated tiles whilst we were there. 😍
A great outcome and a client ecstatic with the transformation.

The lights are on - and the old Caldwell’s Jewellers Building in Wolfe St, Newcastle is brought back to life.

We recently completed Re-pointing the brickwork on this majestic old girl on the corner of Wolfe St and the Hunter St Mall. For those of you old enough to remember it housed Caldwells Jewellers for many many years.
Positioned perfectly in the midst of the old David Jones building re-development, it’s currently undergoing a major re-furb as premium office space with retail at street level.
We did a little research and found the building started out as one of Newcastle’s first milk bars. We had to remove lots of old rusted bolts from the brickwork during the restoration and in finding the old photo below from the early 1950’s, realised they were remnants of the Victor Ice Cream sign visible on the Hunter St side.
